So, life, and my bank account, and possibly the ability to keep my house all rely on the possibility to keep unemployment. Or get a job in the next couple of days.
Add to this the other expenses which are requisite for the middle class, I am headed quickly to the working class poor again. Here are a summary of the expenses I experience in a given month:
Child 1 (Daycare): 130x4= $520 USD
Child 2 (Aftercare): 51.50x4= $256.00
Mortgage 1 (80 of an 80/20 split): $976.00 +9.95 fee
Mortgage 2 (20 of an 80/20 split): $295.22 + 9.95 fee
Homeowners insurance: 180/mo
Water: 56.86 (this month)
Electric: between 75-165/mo
Gas (Powers the water heater and the heat in the house): 100/mo (Approx)
These are the things associated just with the house and general keeping work going.
Then you have to add in living expenses:
Gasoline (1 car at $40/weekx4=160/mo and 1 truck at $90/weekx4= 360/mo) = $520
Groceries= approx $400/mo for a family of 4+ 1 26 year old who is contemplating going back to school
The groceries includes the toilet paper and the other incidentals like soap, shampoo, toothpaste.
An every 2 weeks pay for my husband is pretty low, but with a childcare subsidy allowance for a child of a previous relationship, its even lower. His salary alone does not cover the whole balance of what we pay out. And my recent loss means I am going to have to step up sooner than later.
Meanwhile I have been trying to play cinderella at home and we are slowly losing the battle. Wish me luck. As I do you.
