We all could use a helping hand though. One of my friends (and possibly his wife) needs that kind of help. So, through a funding source I have requested a small amount of cash (respectively and respectfully) to get him into either:
A) a Mobile home
B) Build his own solar hut
or
C) purchase a home on existing land somewhere.
The realities for my friend are these:
A) has no job
B) is 56 but has diabetes, with failing systems and high blood sugar counts
C) subsists on only a small amount of food stamps
D) His wife also has ill health went to MO, USA to get USAF childrens health benefits for herself which, for some reason, is not recognized here in TN, USA
E) She being the only breadwinner at nearly poverty level with no raise in 10 years is happy to leave.
F) he is now 2 months behind on rent and they are likely to evict.
G) Owns her 3 cats
H) Is attempting to get Social Security Benefits but that is a slow process. This is his 2nd attempt. Lawyers are helping but its torturous seeing the snails pace. Especially when Eviction is emminent.
This being said, he has no vehicle, except for a bike. Everything is not within walking distance. If I could raise 50,000 I could get him into a fairly run down place but it would be an ownership deal. If I could only get $15,000 I could get him a mobile home, but he would still need land. If I can get him a little less, he could build something himself. It would be hard, but it must be really small and he would have to have it inspected. It would not include plumbing or lights or anything. That assumes there would be space.
I'm all for humanitarianism if I can do it, but I'd rather help him help himself. With your help if you're able:
